Video marketing is just a tool, and just like any other tool, it has to be used right. If you want to achieve results, you have to avoid making mistakes – and in this article, we will cover some of the most widespread reasons why video marketing efforts just don’t work.
Video plays a progressively significant role in marketing and is currently one of the most effective ways of engaging with potential customers and attracting their attention.
However, many marketers don’t understand that this approach is a little bit more complicated than simply shooting a video and making it available on the Internet.

1. Having A Long Intro

You've seen those right? And I'll admit we used to do those too. Sometimes they look pretty cool right. But the thing is, that's not what your visitor came to see right.
That's not what the user wants. What they want is the information that you promised them in the title or whatever it was that made them click or tap on that video.
So what you're going to do is tell them what that video is about and then you can use a short little intro with your logo if you like for branding and then move right into the information.
And then you can always add more branding at the end or maybe use a lower thirds if you want as well. But try not to just have 10 seconds of branding for your company and your logo when that's not really what they were there to see.
You're going to lose visitors and you're going to lose viewers.

2. Not Using Captions On Video

And that is not having closed captions on your videos.
There's several basic reasons to have closed captions. Of course if someone is watching your video without sound, they need to be able to read right? And some people do that, they might be at work or the Dr's office or whatever so make sure you have the closed captions there.
Also for the hearing impaired, it's really important for them to be able to connect with what you're saying right so closed captions will help them as well.

And finally, people whose first language isn’t the language that you're speaking in. So if English is your first language and somebody else is viewing your video, having closed captions will help them understand he content just a little bit more.

3. Not Having Call To Action

And you've seen that before too right, maybe you've watched a great video and you're left wondering what should.
So what you want to do is tell the view what you want them to do. What action do you want them to take. Should they click a button to learn more should they subscribe to your channel should they like your page, should they leave comments.

There's all sorts of options. Now don't put too many calls to action in each video. Nor more than two, maybe three and then you can mix them up for each video so you can use different things and build engagement on your channel and pages ok.
But just make sure you always have a call to action. Don't assume that they'll know what you want them to do.

4. Having More Than 1 Point On Video

So I want you to stick on one subject. But you don't want to move on to too many different pieces of subject matter in one video because they are there to learn what it was that you said you were going to talk about right.
So if it's a product or service, you don't need to go into all your products or services right. What you would do is pick one, pick a problem that that product or service solves and talk about that.
Then choose another problem and you can expand on that in another video. It's also a great way to add more video to your channel or your site or your social media pages.

5. Not Targeting Right Audience

Audience or targeting way too big of an audience. The thing is a lot of people will say that this works for everybody. And that might be true but the thing is your message will connect better if you speak to a specific segment right.
So you wouldn't talk to for instance a young woman in her 20's the same way you would to a retired grandma with tons of kids and grandkids right.
They probably have different problems. So you can pick and choose what it is you're talking about but again try to target one market segment per video.
And again, you're just going to connect a lot better because they'll feel like you're talking just to them with the problem they have as opposed to saying is this you or is this you or is this you, great we've got you covered.

SEO Strategies For Video Marketing On YouTube

1. Use Same Keyword Everywhere

You need to be using the same keyword on your website and on the blog post as you are on YouTube.
And if you'll implement something like Yoast SEO which is a WordPress plug-in on your site you can really make sure that you are giving Google all the SEO.
Now another thing you want to do is to search for titles in the search bar of YouTube before you title your video this one sounds really easy and Elementary. But basically go to the search bar in YouTube and go ahead and type in what you think you want to title this video.
Once you have something that is like a working title and you're trying to see if it works or not go to the YouTube search bar and search for it.
Now what you want to do is search exactly like you would title your video and see what videos come up and see if it's actually something people want to watch.

If not, Rethink about your terms and your title terms and like revamp that title a little bit. But go to the YouTube search bar and search it out and see what other people are doing for those same key terms so you can even see if it's an idea that works.
Now the important key is, If you will go to the search bar on YouTube and you will type in your key terms what will come up as the first ten results are things that people are searching for.

So you know that those top 10 results are decent and there are probably things you could use and be successful with. But they all start with your key terms.
To go a level deeper, Once you've typed in your keywords you have to have typed them in and searched for them first go back up to the search bar put your cursor before the keywords and type an underscore and a space.
Now what this will do is it will pull up those same top 10 results but this time your keywords could be found anywhere in that title.
So now you're kind of throwing a loop in this hole the keywords have to be at the front of the title thing and you're seeing what comes up which is really useful.

2. Knowing What Your Audience Wants

The first thing I want to talk about with YouTube SEO is doing more videos like the ones that perform really well for you.
If you have a video that's performing really well in your audience and you're getting subscribers from it and you're getting a lot of watch time, those are the things your audience wants to see.

So take a step back look at your content calendar and see how you can do more things like that in the future.
Now what's really useful is let's say you see an old video that you did maybe six months ago and it didn't really perform well when you released it but now for whatever reason it's showing up in a lot of people's suggested videos maybe a larger creator than you put out a video similar and YouTube is suggesting yours whatever.

But you might be getting a lot of traffic from this old video. So if you start seeing that you might think.
Be attentive to what people are watching and what people are liking on your channel and do more of it.

3. Put Out Good Content

Put out good content that people want to watch. It doesn't matter how well you rank in search engines if you're content kind of sucks when people do find it.
So make sure you're doing everything else that and I are gonna talk about in this two-part video series.
But also make sure that your content is really good it doesn't matter if you rank number one if somebody gets 10 seconds into your video and doesn't like what you're saying.
So put out good content and make sure it's rich valuable content.

And try to Embed your video in your Website.
This is going to do multiple things but basically when you Embed a YouTube video into your website.
It is telling Google that they should show preference to this content because not only are you ranking on YouTube or using those keywords on YouTube but you're also using them on your website.
